Long time back we had covered Continue. This is a developer tool that is an open source extension through VSS Code as well as Jet Brain. It will easily enable you to create your own modular AI software development system that you can improve. 

This is probably the easiest way for you to develop software with the help of AI. With Continue, you're going to be able to easily understand code sections where you can just highlight code snippets and get a good description, as well as an ability for Continue to debug certain sections. As you highlight it, you have the ability to autocomplete code suggestions, which is going to save you so much more time as it will autogenerate the code for you. 

You have the ability to refractor functions when you're coding. You have the ability to ask questions about your code base, so if there's certain things that you want to take a look at, you can ask the AI within Continue to help you find the context of that code. You can also have it so that it could generate code for you, which is something that is really, really useful for a lot of coders. 

You have the ability to easily use documentation as context. You can kick off actions at slash commands. You can even add different types of classes files to get more context within your.

Extension so this way the code will generate based off the context or the type of understanding that you have from your other prior code base. You're going to be able to understand terminal errors immediately. This is something that we're going to be exploring throughout today's video.

Hey, what is up guys? Welcome back to another YouTube video at the world of bayi. Today's video we're going to take a look at continue once again because they have basically rebranded their whole website or their app you can say and there's.

A lot more features that we're going to be covering throughout today's video that we saw at the intro. So we're going to be doing now is starting off by installing continue with our IDE. 

So in this case I have visual C code and I'm more comfortable with it. So I'm going to install it as an extension for vs code and you can simply install it with Jeet FR as well. 

So now that I have this opened up I'm going to just simply click install. It's going to then prompt open vs code. So I do have vs code installed but it's not opening it up. 

So what I'll need to do is just open up vs code, close all these different things, open up a new window and from here I'm going to then go to the extensions Tab. 

This is where you can even search it up over here or you can search up continue and we should be able to find it as the first one over here. 

And you can just simply click on this, you can then click install and within a couple seconds you should have access to continue. 

Now once you have installed the extension what you can do is click on this gear button and go to extension settings. 

This is where you're going to be able to configure certain things such as enabling the tab autocomplete feature. You can have it so that there's a remote config server URL as well as many.

Other features so if you're interested you can integrate other things within this continue extension. Now there's four key important shortcuts and firstly we're going to take a look at the command in control plus L command which is to get the shortcut to open up the select code feature. This is going to be used to select different ranges of code as well as have it so that it could analyze what the Cod snip is talking about or what sort of improvements are needed. 

You the control command plus shift plus L shortcut which is to select the code for followup. You have the ability to have a quick edit with the command control plus I feature or the shortcut. And lastly you have command Control Plus shift plus r and this is to automatically debug within your terminal. But these are the four key shortcuts that you would be utilizing if you're going to be coding out any sort of software or any sort of codebase. 

So you will see that continue is installed over here and this is where you're going to have a lot of different options where you can integrate local models your own models. So you can even upload your own ftuned coding based models or any sort of company based models that is going to be able to give you the best generation for your code and this is where.

This would be a really helpful thing for you. You can also utilize Cloud models where you can implement different sorts of star coder model models. You have GB 4 CL 3 as well as other models. So after you select your type, you'll then be able to start asking and chatting with continue. 

So this way you can autogenerate code as well as have it so that it's going to be used to basically debug certain things. Now continue has done a great job in onboarding different sorts of users to its extension. This is where they have created this introduction tutorial to get started. 

First things first, you can click on the gray buttons starting by highlighting the functions to follow along. So in this case, this is the gray button that they have. You can highlight the function to follow along. In this case, you highlight the function below as a tutorial. 

What we're going to be doing is using the keyboard shortcut which is command L. So we're going to do command plus L and then you can see on the left hand side within the continue. You can actually increase this window and you can see within this window it's going to be able to allow you to ask questions. 

So you can select the code and toggle the continue input box to whatever size you want. You can then ask a question.

And press enter. We can ask it what does this code mean. And then we can click enter. And then it's going to utilize different GPT models. And it's going to help you understand this section where it's going to describe each line of code to you. It's going to give you an example as well as different sorts of X that is going to help you understand it better. 

And then if we go down a little bit more, you can see that you it's telling us to highlight this code. And it's going to showcase the edit code command. So we're going to highlight this. And then we're going to press command L to add it to the chat. We're going to do command L. And then we're going to add it over here. Or you can do control L, sorry. 

And from here, what we're going to do is use the shortcut command I to edit it. So we're going to do command I. And if you want to request the change, you can then type it up within the search tab. And then you're going to be able to request an edit for that code. Then you can use shortcuts to accept it, and that's by just basically typing in command shift enter or rejecting it, which is command shift backspace. 

Now another example that they've focused is by debugging automatically. But what you can do is run the file. Once we see that there's an error, we're going to...

Close this terminal. It's going to say use the keyboard shortcut command shift R. And from there you can see that there's a start debugging command and we're going to click on this. And you can see that you can run the python debugger which is suggested or you can install another extension. In this case we're going to run it for this file that we have and we're going to have it run and debug. 

So within a couple seconds we should have it fixed. Now just note that there's various other providers that you can use. You can select various models and you can even configure it even further. There's a lot of walkthroughs and customization that you should definitely take a look at within their docs. So I'll leave a link to this in the description below. 

But you can see that this is a great tool that you can utilize to help you create different sorts of apps. Now the great thing is that you can even have it autogenerate certain types of code based off the files and context that you give it. It's going to have the ability to go through your code base so it can reference the context that you have already generated to formulate the code for future generation. This is a great thing with code. This is a great tool that's going to be really really helpful in various ways.
